Would you rather…
Choices about lockers, lunch, group projects, gaming and growing up, written for 11- to 14-year-olds. They make a quick bell-ringer, an advisory warm-up or a way to get a quiet class talking.
How to use these in middle school
Use one as a bell-ringer while attendance is taken: project it, have students vote with a hand signal or by moving to a side of the room, then cold-call one person from each side for their reason. It takes three minutes and gets everyone talking before the lesson starts.
In advisory or homeroom, try a "four corners" round with two questions at once, or have students write a short paragraph defending their pick for persuasive-writing practice. Every question is written for this age group and reviewed by a person: nothing violent, nothing romantic, nothing that singles anyone out.
